212bbb2c77 crypto/tls: add server-side ECH
Adds support for server-side ECH.

We make a couple of implementation decisions that are not completely
in-line with the spec. In particular, we don't enforce that the SNI
matches the ECHConfig public_name, and we implement a hybrid
shared/backend mode (rather than shared or split mode, as described in
Section 7). Both of these match the behavior of BoringSSL.

The hybrid server mode will either act as a shared mode server, where-in
the server accepts "outer" client hellos and unwraps them before
processing the "inner" hello, or accepts bare "inner" hellos initially.
This lets the server operate either transparently as a shared mode
server, or a backend server, in Section 7 terminology. This seems like
the best implementation choice for a TLS library.

0d9e15f699 crypto/tls: expose extensions presented by client to GetCertificate
This enables JA3 and JA4 TLS fingerprinting to be implemented from
the GetCertificate callback, similar to what BoringSSL provides with
its SSL_CTX_set_dos_protection_cb hook.

ce1cbd081a crypto/tls: add ech client support
This CL adds a (very opinionated) client-side ECH implementation.

In particular, if a user configures a ECHConfigList, by setting the
Config.EncryptedClientHelloConfigList, but we determine that none of
the configs are appropriate, we will not fallback to plaintext SNI, and
will instead return an error. It is then up to the user to decide if
they wish to fallback to plaintext themselves (by removing the config
list).

Additionally if Config.EncryptedClientHelloConfigList is provided, we
will not offer TLS support lower than 1.3, since negotiating any other
version, while offering ECH, is a hard error anyway. Similarly, if a
user wishes to fallback to plaintext SNI by using 1.2, they may do so
by removing the config list.

With regard to PSK GREASE, we match the boringssl behavior, which does
not include PSK identities/binders in the outer hello when doing ECH.

If the server rejects ECH, we will return a ECHRejectionError error,
which, if provided by the server, will contain a ECHConfigList in the
RetryConfigList field containing configs that should be used if the user
wishes to retry. It is up to the user to replace their existing
Config.EncryptedClientHelloConfigList with the retry config list.

5578206479 crypto/tls: reorder client_hello extensions
This sets us up for ECH, which need compressible extensions to be
contiguous. Put them at the end to make things easier for everyone.

990f526003 crypto/tls: don't cache marshal'd bytes
Only cache the wire representation for clientHelloMsg and serverHelloMsg
during unmarshal, which are the only places we actually need to hold
onto them. For everything else, remove the raw field.

This appears to have zero performance impact:

ba1a41d66f crypto/tls: replace all usages of BytesOrPanic
Message marshalling makes use of BytesOrPanic a lot, under the
assumption that it will never panic. This assumption was incorrect, and
specifically crafted handshakes could trigger panics. Rather than just
surgically replacing the usages of BytesOrPanic in paths that could
panic, replace all usages of it with proper error returns in case there
are other ways of triggering panics which we didn't find.

In one specific case, the tree routed by expandLabel, we replace the
usage of BytesOrPanic, but retain a panic. This function already
explicitly panicked elsewhere, and returning an error from it becomes
rather painful because it requires changing a large number of APIs.
The marshalling is unlikely to ever panic, as the inputs are all either
fixed length, or already limited to the sizes required. If it were to
panic, it'd likely only be during development. A close inspection shows
no paths for a user to cause a panic currently.

This patches ends up being rather large, since it requires routing
errors back through functions which previously had no error returns.
Where possible I've tried to use helpers that reduce the verbosity
of frequently repeated stanzas, and to make the diffs as minimal as
possible.

Thanks to Marten Seemann for reporting this issue.

This also updates the vendored-in versions of several packages: 'go
mod vendor' selects a consistent version of each module, but we had
previously vendored an ad-hoc selection of packages.

Notably, x/crypto/hkdf was previously vendored in at a much newer
commit than the rest of x/crypto. Bringing the rest of x/crypto up to
that commit introduced an import of golang.org/x/sys/cpu, which broke
the js/wasm build, requiring an upgrade of x/sys to pick up CL 165749.

6571d32361 vendor/golang_org/x: move to internal/x
Packages in vendor/ directories have a "vendor/" path prefix in GOPATH
mode, but intentionally do not in module mode. Since the import path
is embedded in the compiled output, changing that path invalidates
cache entries and causes cmd/go to try to rebuild (and reinstall) the
vendored libraries, which will fail if the directory containing those
libraries is read-only.

If I understood correctly, this is the approach Russ suggested as an
alternative to https://golang.org/cl/136138.

b523d280e4 crypto/tls: implement TLS 1.3 client authentication
Note that the SignatureSchemes passed to GetClientCertificate in TLS 1.2
are now filtered by the requested certificate type. This feels like an
improvement anyway, and the full list can be surfaced as well when
support for signature_algorithms_cert is added, which actually matches
the semantics of the CertificateRequest signature_algorithms in TLS 1.2.

Also, note a subtle behavior change in server side resumption: if a
certificate is requested but not required, and the resumed session did
not include one, it used not to invoke VerifyPeerCertificate. However,
if the resumed session did include a certificate, it would. (If a
certificate was required but not in the session, the session is rejected
in checkForResumption.) This inconsistency could be unexpected, even
dangerous, so now VerifyPeerCertificate is always invoked. Still not
consistent with the client behavior, which does not ever invoke
VerifyPeerCertificate on resumption, but it felt too surprising to
entirely change either.

166c58b85c crypto/tls: implement TLS 1.3 PSK authentication (server side)
Added some assertions to testHandshake, but avoided checking the error
of one of the Close() because the one that would lose the race would
write the closeNotify to a connection closed on the other side which is
broken on js/wasm (#28650). Moved that Close() after the chan sync to
ensure it happens second.

Accepting a ticket with client certificates when NoClientCert is
configured is probably not a problem, and we could hide them to avoid
confusing the application, but the current behavior is to skip the
ticket, and I'd rather keep behavior changes to a minimum.

It also leaves a few areas up for a wider refactor (maybe in Go 1.13):
  - the certificate selection logic can be significantly improved,
including supporting and surfacing signature_algorithms_cert, but
this isn't new in TLS 1.3 (see comment in processClientHello)
  - handshake_server_tls13.go can be dried up and broken into more
meaningful, smaller functions, but it felt premature to do before
    PSK and client auth support
  - the monstrous ClientHello equality check in doHelloRetryRequest can
get both cleaner and more complete with collaboration from the
parsing layer, which can come at the same time as extension
    duplicates detection

d4e9432552 crypto/tls: implement TLS 1.3 version-specific messages
Note that there is significant code duplication due to extensions with
the same format appearing in different messages in TLS 1.3. This will be
cleaned up in a future refactor once CL 145317 is merged.

Enforcing the presence/absence of each extension in each message is left
to the upper layer, based on both protocol version and extensions
advertised in CH and CR. Duplicated extensions and unknown extensions in
SH, EE, HRR, and CT will be tightened up in a future CL.

The TLS 1.2 CertificateStatus message was restricted to accepting only
type OCSP as any other type (none of which are specified so far) would
have to be negotiated.

e041919535 crypto/tls: allow renegotiation to be handled by a client.
This change adds Config.Renegotiation which controls whether a TLS
client will accept renegotiation requests from a server. This is used,
for example, by some web servers that wish to “add” a client certificate
to an HTTPS connection.

This is disabled by default because it significantly complicates the
state machine.

Originally, handshakeMutex was taken before locking either Conn.in or
Conn.out. However, if renegotiation is permitted then a handshake may
be triggered during a Read() call. If Conn.in were unlocked before
taking handshakeMutex then a concurrent Read() call could see an
intermediate state and trigger an error. Thus handshakeMutex is now
locked after Conn.in and the handshake functions assume that Conn.in is
locked for the duration of the handshake.

Additionally, handshakeMutex used to protect Conn.out also. With the
possibility of renegotiation that's no longer viable and so
writeRecordLocked has been split off.

8fbca1d423 crypto/tls: fix parsing of SNI extension.
The previous code had a brain fart: it took one of the length prefixes
as an element count, not a length. This didn't actually affect anything
because the loop stops as soon as it finds a hostname element, and the
hostname element is always the first and only element. (No other element
types have ever been defined.)

This change fixes the parsing in case SNI is ever changed in the future.

cf04082452 crypto/tls: add support for Certificate Transparency
This change adds support for serving and receiving Signed Certificate
Timestamps as described in RFC 6962.

The server is now capable of serving SCTs listed in the Certificate
structure. The client now asks for SCTs and, if any are received,
they are exposed in the ConnectionState structure.

24c9051f97 crypto/tls: fix renegotiation extension.
There are two methods by which TLS clients signal the renegotiation
extension: either a special cipher suite value or a TLS extension.

It appears that I left debugging code in when I landed support for the
extension because there's a "+ 1" in the switch statement that shouldn't
be there.

The effect of this is very small, but it will break Firefox if
security.ssl.require_safe_negotiation is enabled in about:config.
(Although almost nobody does this.)

This change fixes the original bug and adds a test. Sadly the test is a
little complex because there's no OpenSSL s_client option that mirrors
that behaviour of require_safe_negotiation.
